I was born in Thornhill, Ontario, and lived there until I moved to Brampton when I was ten. I attended Bramalea Secondary School and entered a writing contest which I won and as a prize got to be a press reporter for a Raptors game; from that point I was hooked.
I went to York University for a year. Then when they went on strike I realized I had two options; wait it out, or move on. After a year of studying media at York, I realized i actually wanted to 'DO' media. So I packed up my toque, snow shoes, and mitts and headed for North Bay where I enrolled in the Journalism- Print & Broadcast program at Canadore College and graduated in June 2012.
Through the Journalism Program, I learned about 'the business' and how to succeed in the industry. During my time at Canadore I learned to write stories for all three media (Print, Radio, and Television). I also learned how to shoot, edit and produce stories for our weekly college newscasts as well as learning the; anchor, co-anchor, sports and weather positions. Canadore College gave me the resources and knowledge to further my career in the Broadcast and Journalism field.
I am currently the City Reporter/Sports Editor at CKAT News Radio in North Bay. Through this job I have gotten a feel for the media industry by going on air and doing news casts, while also going out into the community and getting local news stories. I attend city council and other board meetings as part of my duties and anchor the weekend news casts.
My main interest is in baseball and I'm a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan. Being from Toronto I also love the Maple Leafs, and since there is no NFL North of the Border, my team is the Dallas Cowboys. My ultimate goal is to one day be a broadcaster for the Toronto Blue Jays.
I'm engaging and friendly and love to discuss news and sports in any length or context at any time. I love telling stories and listening to stories - which is really the essence of what a reporter does.
I am currently the play by play announcer for North Bay Jr. A Trappers hockey on www.fasthockey.com and also do the side line reporting/play by play/color commentary for high school football on CKAT News and OFC football commentary for COGECO TV, as well as Nipissing Lakers Hockey on both COGECO TV and CKAT News. I am also a contributing writer for the national sports website www.bleacherreport.com.
